What started as showing up to a first-year retreat and meeting the right people became three years of overlapping responsibility across the Engineering Students’ Society, faculty governance, and university decision-making.
The work ranged from building community and industry partnerships to leading one of Canada’s largest engineering student societies and representing students in the university’s highest academic governance body.

President
Engineering Students' Society (ESS) at the University of Alberta
May 2024 - March 2025 · Edmonton, AB
I led a strategy-driven presidency built around one agenda: Finding the Ideal Balance. What began as a campaign platform around advocacy, engineering culture, and governance reform became a structured annual strategy and the foundation for the ESS’s first three-year planning model.
The role spanned executive leadership, academic advocacy, faculty relations, financial oversight, and student engagement. I represented over 5,000 undergraduate engineering students while coordinating priorities across eight departments, discipline clubs, project teams, and faculty partners.
Alongside the visible work of events and representation, I focused on the quieter institutional work: renewing bylaws and policies, improving collaboration, expanding faculty partnerships, and rebuilding engineering community after years of weakened post-pandemic engagement.
The goal was not only to lead a strong term, but to strengthen the ESS so that the work could continue beyond a single president or election cycle.

Vice President, External Relations
Engineering Students' Society (ESS) at the University of Alberta

As Vice President, External Relations, I led the ESS portfolio responsible for corporate partnerships, sponsorship strategy, employer engagement, career fair growth, project group support, and national conference representation.
The work was outward-facing but deeply student-centered: building relationships with employers, professional organizations, alumni, and engineering student societies, then translating those relationships into funding, career access, and institutional opportunities for engineering students.
I also represented the University of Alberta at national engineering conferences and helped lead successful bids that brought WEC 2026 and CELC 2027 to the University of Alberta.

Across three years, I served in elected roles across the University of Alberta’s student, faculty, and academic governance structures, giving me a sustained view of how decisions move from committee discussion to formal action.
I served on the UASU Students’ Council, the Students’ Union’s highest governing body, contributing to organizational priorities, executive accountability, and student representation within a multi-million-dollar budget organization. I also served on General Faculties Council and Engineering Faculty Council, contributing student perspective on university-wide and faculty-level governance.

President, First Year Engineering Club
Engineering Students' Society at the University of Alberta

The First Year Engineering Club was my first elected leadership role, taken on in the opening weeks of first year. At its core, the role was about helping new engineering students find community, confidence, and a first point of connection with the ESS.
Leading the club while still navigating first year myself meant learning the institution and improving it at the same time. The work began with events and first-year belonging, but quickly became an entry point into board governance, advocacy, and the wider ESS ecosystem.
That first role became the foundation for everything that followed: External Relations, university governance, and eventually the ESS Presidency.
